It's the BIG BAND JAM! 2010
The biggest, baddest,
broadest beat ever brought to Washington, D.C. !
The 6th Annual BIG
BAND JAM! will occur between April 16-25, 2010 on the National Mall and in
seven separate venues over ten days.
These various venues include Blues
Alley, The Strathmore, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institutions and Sylvan
Amphitheater stages. The venues will host clinics, classes, tours, film and
performances continuously beginning at 11:00 am daily. The BIG BAND JAM! is the
only jazz festival in America specifically created by kids to kids for kids and
from kids. Artists as diverse as vocal, fusion, straight ahead, Dixieland and
big band all contribute to the continued success of this ever-growing
phenomenon. As this demand has grown so too have the size and our offerings
also. Over the course of just five short years the number of days has grown
from three to five to ten days in all.
The BIG BAND JAM! festival features high
schools, colleges, universities, military, amateur and professional ensembles.
Ensembles have traveled the length and breadth of the United States to perform,
educate and teach to others. Specific tributes have included Duke Ellington,
Ella Fitzgerald and the annual "Willis Conover Weekend".
